According to a new report, Samsung will have priority for the Snapdragon 845 for its Galaxy S9. The company made a similar deal with Qualcomm in 2017 for the Galaxy S8 as well. Samsung had manufactured Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 835 processor, and keeping the initial batch for itself.

Qualcomm may go back to Samsung in order to get its new chip manufactured, meaning that the initial batch of the Snapdragon 845 will be reserved for the Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+ as well. Samsung is expected to release the Galaxy S9 early 2019, with rumours suggesting that the device will be out a month earlier than usual. While that does not seem too unlikely, Samsung may not want to commit to an early release as the last time it did that, things turned out disastrous.
