Price of Samsung Galaxy S4 Leaked in Samsung US Website
Samsung Galaxy S4 was officially unveiled last Friday morning (7 am GMT +8). During the announcement, Samsung Mobile chief JK Shin said that the Galaxy S4 will hit US retail stores at the end of April. However, the price was not mentioned at the time, leaving the public to speculate on the cost of owning Samsung’s latest flagship device.
Yet yesterday it appears an unintentional mistake was made by the US Samsung website. Samsung US had organized a giveaway event over their website, offering 48 pieces of 16 GB Samsung Galaxy S4 phones up for grabs. In the terms and conditions, the recommended retail price for each Galaxy S4 was inadvertently revealed to be US$ 579 , or about RM 1815 .
It’s probable that the leaked price of the 16 GB Galaxy S4 does not include the usual taxes and duties associated with purchasing the phone. Thus we can safely assume the selling price to be slightly higher than that. It’s possible even after taxes are taken into account, the price of the Galaxy S4 will still be lower than Apple’s 16 GB iPhone 5: the SIM-free version retails for US$ 649 in the US, or RM 2199 in Malaysia.
Of course, the pricing of the Galaxy S4 is not confirmed officially, so this ‘leak’ could be bogus, or even a hoax perpetrated to mislead on the actual phone price. We can only wait until its arrival on Malaysian shores to find out once and for all.
