Samsung to free up more memory on the Galaxy S4
Samsung has pledged to squeeze the many features of its Galaxy S4 into a smaller space, freeing up more memory for apps via software optimisation. The smartphone recently appeared BBC’s consumers affairs show – Watchdog – which investigated claims of 16GB of storage, after users complained the phone only has half of that available.
Speaking to CNET UK, a Samsung spokesperson told CNET UK, “We are reviewing the possibility to secure more memory space through further software optimisation“.
Although the S4 comes with an expandable memory slot so you slot in another 64GB of storage. However it doesn’t let you install apps to the SD card, only allowing you to fill it up with photos and music. And with apps quickly getting bigger and bigger, the S4′s already halved memory will fill up quite quickly.
The South Korean firm earlier defended the lack space, saying the space taken up was necessary to provide owners with “more powerful features”. While the S4 is indeed feature packed, the question is how many people will use all of them.
