Samsung acquires new AI startup

In a bid to improve Bixby, Samsung acquired Egypt-based AI startup Kngine. Kngine company details on its website that its AI is able to crawl the Internet, enterprise documents, books, FAQs and customer service logs to create “biologically plausible knowledge representations.” What this means is that the AI strives to function like a human brain.

Essentially, the AI combines knowledge from countless documents to develop possible answers to user queries. Samsung isn’t stopping with the acquisitions of course, as the company has been picking up smaller similar companies which include Expect Labs and Vicarious. The move of course, is to bolster its AI capabilities, and Samsung does not seem to be showing signs of stopping anytime soon. How this would translate to a better Bixby experience remains to be seen, but if anything, Samsung is serious about it.
