While most leaks associated with Lumia usually suggests that it is going to be a Windows Phone, there is a recent rumour by @evleaks which claims that Microsoft may in fact be considering a Lumia branded smartphone that runs on Android.

Nokia X

As you may already know, Nokia has Android-powered smartphones under their X series, but those devices ran a forked version of Android with Nokia’s own digital store to replace Google’s services. It is highly unlikely that Microsoft would terminate the X series to place it under Lumia branding umbrella, considering the X2 has just launched.

Regardless, a smartphone running a full-fledged version of Android from Microsoft is even stranger, and is no different from Google launching a Nexus smartphone running Windows Phone. Could Microsoft have finally realised that the market share for Android devices is much bigger than their own?
