Meizu’s billboard of Meizu M6s has devices stolen

Meizu’s latest smartphone, the Meizu M6s, is a relatively budget device launched in January, priced around USD 150 (MYR 593.52). Despite that, it uses the full-screen design with curved glass over the display and has an attractive design. Meizu mounted a billboard in a bus stop in Beijing that was designed with over 200 units of the smartphone stacked in a landscape arrangement, with the displays functioning as a single unit.

It’s quite the innovative concept, with the units forming a billboard promoting the new smartphone. It was attractive enough that someone broke the glass over the billboard and stole some units. Meizu VP Li Nan disclosed it himself on Weibo, showing two units missing.

Meizu’s Blue Charm official Weibo page called the billboard as one of the most expensive billboard per unit area in China, which may not be entirely true, but it is indeed expensive and innovative, likely the first time the company has done such a venture. The billboard highlights the full view display potential of the M6s as individual display units fuse together seamlessly to form a big display and the bezels aren’t too obvious when viewed from afar. Meizu would likely be replacing the stolen units and have security around the area, and it makes one wonder if Meizu will want to continue with a similar project in the future.
