Huawei released its flagship Mate 10 a few days ago, and the company’s future plans are already known. Cnet reports that the company is working on a foldable smartphone for release as early as 2018.

Huawei Foldables

Huawei CEO Richard Yu confirmed Huawei has a working sample of the foldable phone, but work is being done to improve the mechanical design and a better and more flexible screen technology. Other manufacturers also working on a foldable phone includes Samsing with the Galaxy X, and ZTE with the Axon M.

The Axon M uses two displays, so when folding out, there’s a noticeable gap between the two displays. Huawei’s working sample is also said to have two displays, but the company plans to use a proper single foldable screen when it enters the market. There’s no further details on the device due to it still it being in the design phase, but more info should be out in the coming months.
