Honor 9X And 9X Pro Feature The New Kirin 810 & Selfie Camera That Pops Out

Honor has officially joined the pop-up selfie camera club with their newly-unveiled Honor 9X and 9X Pro. The follow-ups to last year’s popular midrange Honor 8X have gotten ride of any semblance of a notch or a cutout. Their previous release, the Honor 20 Series smartphones, sport a side hole-punch display.

That leaves an unobstructed 6.59-inch display in all its glory with tiny bezels all around. Honor is incorporating the device’s fingerprint sensor together with its side power/lock button, just like the Honor 20 phones. Its most distinctive design feature is a X-shaped pattern etched on the back of the device, which is reminiscent of the V-shaped pattern on the Honor View20.

Honor 9X Pro

Hardware-wise, both the 9X and 9X Pro carry the distinction of being Honor’s first-ever smartphones to be powered by the new Kirin 810 chipset which to date can only be found on the Huawei nova 5. The difference between the two comes down to RAM and storage amount as well as camera setup. The 9X has a base 4GB RAM and 64GB storage while the 9X Pro starts at 8GB of RAM and 128GB storage. The 9X has a dual camera setup consisting of a 48MP main lens and a 2MP depth sensor whereas the 9X Pro adds an extra 8MP ultra-wide lens for a triple camera system. The motorised pop-up front camera on both phones sport an identical 16MP lens. Battery capacity at 4,000mAh is also a shared feature.

Set to be released in China at the end of this month, the Honor 9X starts at CNY1,400 (around RM838) and the 9X Pro at CNY2,200 (around RM1,317). Availability in international markets outside of China is currently unknown but as with the majority of Honor releases, a release in Malaysia is pretty much a sure thing. The only question is when.
