Honor Malaysia Debuts Its First Quad Camera Phone – The Honor 20

Barely two days after its global reveal in London, the all-new Honor 20 Series is officially here. Honor Malaysia has announced the Honor 20 for our market, alongside its pricing.

After impressing with the Honor View20 earlier this year, Honor took things up a notch with the Honor 20 Series. The Honor 20 further expands on what the View20 introduced and brought to the table. It has got the same hole punch screen display with the front camera cutout on the top left and is powered by the same Kirin 980 chipset. But that’s about it as far as similarities go as the Honor 20 switches things up and around quite a bit.

The camera is one of the areas with the biggest changeup with the addition of two more cameras at the back, making it Honor’s first-ever quad camera phones (alongside the Honor 20 Pro, which will presumably make its debut here at a later date). Besides the main 48MP camera and a 16MP super wide angle camera, it also packs a 2MP depth sensor as well as a 2MP dedicated macro camera which is uncommon as it is interesting. The 32MP selfie cam is an upgrade from the View20’s 25MP front shooter.

The Honor 20 doesn’t have its fingerprint sensor under its display but it is embedded right on the side frame, within the power/lock key. Design-wise, it isn’t a big departure from what we normally see in an Honor phone but it has a more muted palate than the rather-flashy View20.

Here are the specs rundown for the phone.

  • 6.26-inch FHD+ All-View Display (2340 x 1080 pixels)
  • 6GB RAM
  • Octa-core 7nm Kirin 980 processor
  • 128GB internal storage memory
  • Dual SIM
  • Side-mounted fingerprint sensor
  • GPU Turbo 3.0
  • Android 9 Pie (with MagicUI 2.1)
  • 48MP main lens (F/1.8) + 16MP super wide angle camera (F/2.2) + 2MP macro camera (F/2.4) + 2MP depth sensor (F/2.4) quad camera system
  • 32MP front camera
  • 3,750mAh battery

Honor Malaysia has given the Honor 20 an attractive price tag of RM1,699 but its availability is still up in the airs, albeit them promising it will come “very soon”. Stay tuned for further updates. It will be available in Midnight Black and Sapphire Blue colorways.

The Honor 20 Lite – which is also part of the Honor 20 Series family – was released earlier a month ago. It currently retails at RM949.
