Here Are Currently All The 8GB RAM Phones You Can Buy In Malaysia

8GB RAM in a smartphone is unthinkable just a couple of years ago. But here we are, in a market with plenty of phones packing that much RAM out already in the market. Though that is no longer the maximum now (heck, we even have 10GB RAM phones) 8GB is the most we can get in Malaysia now, and that is still A FREAKING LOT. With that, we take a look at all the 8GB RAM phones available here today and these are the phones of your choice if you are set on getting a smartphone with more RAM than some PCs/laptops.

Samsung Galaxy Note9

Samsung’s latest phablet broke new grounds by being the first Samsung smartphone to pack 8GB RAM. The Galaxy Note series needs no introduction. It has always been an excellent all-rounder for power users and this year’s iteration adds the biggest storage option there is, a bigger battery and introduces the best S-Pen upgrade in the last couple of years. That also means the Note9 is Samsung’s most pricey phone yet, reaching RM4,599 for the most soaped-up variant with 8GB of RAM.

Oppo Find X

The Oppo Find X rivals the Note9 in terms of prestige. One of the most exciting releases in 2018, the Find X combines style, power and innovation for a truly unique phone. The talk of the town is all about that stealth 3D cameras, a mechanised slider design that screams futuristic and eliminates the notch problem in the best-looking style possible. Like the Note9 too, the Find X does not come cheap. The base phone with 8GB RAM costs an upfront of RM3,699. The Automobili Lamborghini Edition packs 10GB RAM but it is not available in Malaysia, yet.

vivo NEX

The phone that kick-started the whole pop-up camera trend. The NEX is vivo’s most ambitious device yet. Aside from the elevating front camera that enables it to have a notch-free, near bezel-less display from top to bottom, the NEX also boasts an in-display fingerprint scanner – a pioneering technology from vivo that propels the Chinese brand into global attention. The NEX is also a powerhouse, featuring 8GB RAM and the latest Snapdragon 845 processor. It currently retails at RM2,799.

OnePlus 6T

OnePlus has been one of the earliest manufacturers to introduce a 8GB phone, ever since the days of the OnePlus 5. Their latest release, the OnePlus 6T has recently just been made available in Malaysia and you can purchase the 8GB RAM variant for RM2,888. OnePlus has always been about offering top flagship-level specs in more accessible price points than the top flagship phones. For their latest phone, OnePlus shrinks down the notch and moves the fingerprint scanner under the screen, while at the same time finally removing the headphone jack.

Razer Phone

The Razer Phone heralds a new era for modern gaming smartphones. While it was not officially launched in Malaysia, you can still get one via third-party retailers for roughly RM2,500 a pop. The Razer Phone introduces a display with 120Hz refresh rate to deliver a super-smooth user experience, and remains the only phone together with its successor – the Razer Phone 2 – to boast of having that feature. Polarising design aside, the Razer Phone includes 8GB RAM, Snapdragon 835 processor, dual front-firing speakers and 4,000mAh battery

Asus ROG Phone

The Asus ROG Phone was Asus’ shot at a dedicated gaming smartphone and what a phone it is. It is arguably the gaming phone in the truest sense of the word yet with design, hardware and features to match. Aside from its powerful specs which include 8GB RAM, Snapdragon 845 and 4,000mAh, what makes the ROG Phone a really unique gaming device is its plethora of built-in gaming-centric features and compatibility with a bunch of gaming accessories that can transform it into various gaming modes. The ROG Phone is truly a one-of-a-kind smartphone and its price tag that starts from RM3,499 reflects that.

Realme 2 Pro

It seems absurd to compare the Realme 2 Pro to all the smartphones above but the fact is that this phone comes packing with 8GB of RAM. For those unaware, Realme is a brand new smartphone brand that only made its debut in May and entered the Malaysia market just a couple of days ago. With all the phones above costing upwards of RM2,500, the Realme 2 Pro’s price of RM1,099 is a real wonder. And if you purchase it on November 11 during the Shopee 11.11 Big Sale, you get it at an even lower RM999. It’s safe to say that if you’re looking for the best value 8GB phone that can handle all your multitasking tasks well, and one that does not burn a serious hole in your wallet, this is a no-brainer.
