Google will not alter its revenue split model

Based on its most recent earnings call,  Google does not intend to make any changes to its 70:30 revenue split model of its Play Store. This is in response to questions asking if maintaining the ratio is a good strategy for the company.

Sundar Pichai, Google CEO, stated that the Play Store is something which many developers rely on to safely and seamlessly distribute their games and that “there’s a value exchange there and it’s been an industry standard,”.

Whether or not developers agree is debatable, but it is something Epic Games CEO Tim Sweeney disagrees, as he was very vocal about it. Sweeney asserted that the fee was”disproportionate to the cost of services these stores perform, such as payment processing, download bandwidth, and customer service,”.
