Google Maps AR Navigation feature rolled out to select few

At Google I/O 20918, integration between Google Lens and Google Maps was teased, and it would seem that the feature is finally ready to be rolled out to the public. To recap what this means,  Google Lens facilitates machine learning algorithms to see the world through a device’s camera in real time. This is then integrated with Google Maps to allow for augmented reality additions such as floating arrows pointing users to their direction location.

In case you are wondering, this will not be replacing the standard usage of Google Maps, as you simply will not be able to use the AR view consistently. The app will ask users to put down their devices after a while. In any case for the time being, the feature is open only to Local Guides, or community reviewers.
