Future Android updates could be delivered via Google Play Store

According to 9to5Google, the discovery of several strings of code suggest Google may soon deliver Android updates using the Play Store.

In version 14.5.52 of the Play Store, a few strings related to downloading and installing a “System Update” was found. In addition, the strings note that the interface elements are similar to the system update page on Pixel devices, which includes prompts to guide users through the update process. There is also no strings for notifications detailing the update progress that includes phrases like “Downloading…”, “Installing…”, and “Almost there…”.

Should this be true, this form of integration would be very useful to Android users, as updates can be rolled out much more frequently in a more user-friendly fashion.
