ARM suspends partnership with Huawei

The week has been all but terrible for Huawei, with ARM being the latest company to suspend its partnership with the China-based smartphone maker.

The news came in the form of a memo that was distributed within the ARM headquarters that instructed employees to cease “all active contracts, support entitlements, and any pending engagements” with Huawei and sister companies such as HONOR. The withdrawal may be the most disastrous one yet as just about all chipsets in the word use ARM’s technology in one form or another. Particularly, Huawei’s Kirin 980 is one such chipset, alongside those used in their enterprise level servers.

Huawei seems to be taking things in stride, with the CEO stating that the ban will not affect it as badly most people think.
