An Entire Ramadan Bazaar Is Going Cashless Thanks To Touch ‘n Go eWallet

For the first time ever, an entire Ramadan bazaar will go cashless thanks to TNG Digital’s latest initiative as part of their effort to spearhead to cashless revolution in the nation.

Situated right in the middle of Kampong Bharu, a township know for its rich history and is the last Malay village in the metropolitan city, the modernised “Kashless” Ramadan bazaar features a total of 400 stalls that will all adopt cashless transactions through the Touch ‘n Go eWallet. Customers will be able to purchase not only foodstuffs but also clothing hassle-free by just scanning the QR code displayed at each and every stall.

Visitors to Kampung Kashless will find much more than just a convenient way to purchase their iftar meals as there are exciting activities lined up to reward users such as Ketupat Runtuh with cashbacks worth RM1,000,000, exclusive merchandise purchase through Hadiah Extra Sempoi and more. In addition, you can also make a donation at the Masjid Jamek Kampong Bharu in the vicinity by just scanning the QR codes at the mosque using the eWallet.

We want to better connect with the community by making technology more inclusive, in a way that will benefit users and merchants alike. The ‘Kashless’ Ramadan bazaar is one of our initiatives to inspire the public in reimagining the way payment is made and make eWallet payment more commonplace,” – Syahrunizam Samsudin, CEO of TNG Digital Sdn Bhd.

To ensure that food wastage at the bazaar is kept to the minimum, they will be collecting excess food to be packed and donate them to people in need which includes the homeless and the urban poor. Supporting this initiative is Yang Amat Mulia Tengku Datin Paduka Setia Zatashah Binti Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah, in collaboration with Kechara Soup Kitchen. An advocate of #zerofoodwastage and #sayno2plastic, she encouraged the public to bring their own food and drink containers as well as recycling bags when visiting bazaars.

Every year we will see a lot of food and plastics being thrown away and this contributes to an enormous amount of waste. This year, I wish for all Malaysians to be responsible towards eradicating food waste and saying no to single-use plastics. I hope that more organisations can work together with the public to protect our environment to be clean and free from plastic,” said Tengku Zatashah.

Running till May 31, the Kampong Bharu ‘Kashless’ Ramadan bazaar will be open daily from 3pm. More information can be found at Download Touch ‘n Go eWallet for free from the Apple App Store and Google Play Store.
