Internet access rate for CDMA is like this...

Dial 1515 - 1 sen for TMnet and 1 1/2 sen for line access
Dial 1525 - 1 sen for TMnet and 3 sen for line access

If you access from west coast areas, it is advised you use 1525 as you'll normally get busy tone if dialling 1515. Else, if you're in east coast (area code 09) you can access 1515 most of the time. The speed for both 1515 and 1525 is about 70-135 kbps.

I'm not so sure that its feasible to connect to 1515 as 1515 at TM is just a hybric ISDN modem which connected to analogue lines at TM Exchange, whereby 1525 is a pure ISDN modem connected to channelised E1 lines. As you might have know channelise E1 is already a digital signaling lines. Thats why connected CDMA to 1525 is best as digital to digital connections.

Nevertheless, both 1515 and 1525 are all authenticated by TMNet Dial Up Server, so you can just own a single TMNet dial up account.

However dial up fees to 1515 and 1525 are totally different (I mean on air time). SO the total cost is On Air Time + Internet Login Time.

I tried it. I don't own CDMA handset for myself, it's one of my boss (aka one of my relative)'s one, he's selling Huawei. But Huawei's sound quality is not that good if you really compare it with Nokia, Motorola or Samsung CDMA handsets.

It's better you get urself a better phone rather than just a simple Huawei model, because you might find yourself hard to listen to your friend's voice at a noisy environment, like in clubs. Your friend can listen to you clearly as background music are filtered or minimized. I did call my friends and also to my own voicemail, then retrived it when back at home, using both CDMA and WCDMA.

How to get The Samsung set as TM or rather TM Point only sell limited models? In fact I have asked few TM Point at Klang Valley, there isn't any stores less except Alcatel and old Motorola W150i set...

I eagerly awaiting the Huawei C506...stylist..

So far coverage for KL is so far ok lah... Here is a short lists where TM has their CDMA towers installed. Coverage extends till 8-9 km for urban areas.

TM Kelana Jaya (covers PJ SS 1,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,25,24)
TM Puchong Jaya/Kinrara (Pchg Jaya, Pst Bdr Pchg, Tmn/Bdr Kinrara, PJS 7,9)........................

Thanks for the list, it's very comprehensive indeed... You compiled it via observation or insdie info from TM? Even TM website don't list it ....

also, one thing i observed is TM don't implement the RUIM card but hard coded the set to attached to TM CDMA...

Maybe it's about their license on CDMA, the limitation as issued by MCMC. Thus TM can't offered roaming services to those CDMA roamers..

At Taiwan and China, CDMA users are as competative as GSM users at their countries... Even Australians at outback is relying on CDMA rather than the GSM which only covered 3-4km maximum from the basestations..

I am really fasinated by the voice quality... crystal clear as comparable to fix line .. Fed up on GSM robot sound.

Well, for the Samsung set, you can get it from countries that offer CDMA service as their primary wireless protocol. You must make sure you have permission granted to access the phone setup option. As you know TM does not utilize the RUIM slot for subscribers module, similary for most of the CDMA operators worldwide. The way they authorize your network access is through unique ESN (Electronic Serial Number) of each phone.

Be aware that for certain phones, if you purchased it, especially carrier subsidized phones in North America and New Zealand, they restrict their customers to switch carrier or resell the phone within contract period, by adding another layer of protection with MSL (Master Subsidy Lock) and secondary unlock code.

For your information, Australia's Telstra CDMA network is scheduled to close by end of next year, and their CDMA subscribers are moving to a so called high-speed next generation network - HSDPA system. It is actually a joint effort between Hutchison's 3G and Australia's Telstra. Hutchison primary business is on GSM based 3G system, upgradable to HSPA network. So, the move of migrating CDMA users there to nextG network is basically a business plan affected by ideas from 3's.

If you're planning for a better phone, get yourself a color screen one, at least you feel refreshed every time you use it. The Huawei C506 is already available in the market, my boss aka my relative is using it few months ago. Try contact the authorized distributor for Huawei in Malaysia, Telecommunications Sdn. Bhd

I tried and tested for CDMA voice quality at a few nightclubs and disco around KLCC, Jln Sultan Ismail and Jln P Ramlee area. So far, I do not have problem access the TM's network except in Zouk Club KL. Indoor signal there is quite weak except with Maxis line.

In fact connecting CDMA 1xRTT data service do not required you to dial any number, therefore either 1515 or 1525 is merely a dummy number to authenticate your account. To establish a data connection, it's like GPRS, but TM significantly request "dial up" for CDMA is just a effort to incorporate CDMA system into their existing ISDN network.

Dial up access is not necessary to establish a packet data connection.

If you say from TM insider source? Most probably you'll get incorrect information. TM staffs are too committed to Telekom and each and everyone you ask, from front desk to technical support, even till RF engineers, they'll claim that you'll find one CDMA tower in every 5-10 GSM towers.

But the truth is not. My souces are obtained directly from MCMC and also site observation and testing. So far it's brother GSM to it's own CDMA cell ratio in Klang Valley is somewhere between 35:1.

Impossible to say you have tower installed at a location X but my phone reports signal strength of 50% at a distance 10meters from tower X, repeatedly for two weeks time. You might have CDMA tower there to serve your own community, may be it's not publicly open, it's still under initial testing stage, or you've just put up your antennas.

The problem with TM point is that, each time you visit them to ask for CDMA handset, they'll say out of stock... hehe..:)
