Well, TM's CDMA is running on 1xRTT system. It already supports data rate of up to 153.6 kbps at this moment. Be remineded that TM charges you per minute dial rate, not calculated as per kByte data rate.

To Mr Yazidrus, I don't use TM's CDMA for Internet browsing because I can't afford to pay per minute rate. It's too expensive for me and might cost me RM 200 to RM 300 per month. I rather stay connected with my 3G wireless phone, which I pay RM 90 monthly for unlimited usage.

yeah, TM treat it as ISDN dial charges access to Internet.

I am much eager to find out the coverage as well as advantages and disadvantages using CDMA on TM.. One basic feature that I consider GREATER THAN GSM is the background noise cancelling as well as no frequency hard handover (the click sound u hear over GSM network when u r talk and travel)..

The voice over CDMA is as clear as landline compare to GSM when GSM still make one sound like robot.

Haha.... the background noise cancelling for CDMA is similar to what we're having now for WCDMA. It really cancels of those electrical noise and makes your voice sounds clearer. Two situations where I can proved this cancelling technique works, at pasar malam electric motor generator and inside a nightclub playing loud music (intensity >120 dB). The noise cancellation is something you can't get in GSM.

WCDMA is implemented as UMTS in our country with Maxis and Celcom using FDD method. UMTS in fact is not universal too, haha, I agree because there're 10 spectrums available for this operation, and don't think global roaming makes anyone easy anymore.

America UMTS 700 MHz (FCC auctions by 2007-2008)
America UMTS 850 MHz
Japan/S Korea UMTS 1700 MHz
America UMTS 1900 MHz
European UMTS 800 MHz
European UMTS 900 MHz
European UMTS 1800 MHz
European/Japan UMTS 2100 MHz
European UMTS 2600 MHz
America UMTS 1700/2100 MHz

In fact, WCDMA is a "rojak" type of technology, the wideband also combines both TDMA and FDMA at it's implementation.

I would like to use it at disco as u know its trouble when background sound on the GSM especially when one use the Sony Ericsson with a very sensitive microphone which pick up anything like toilet water roll and such..haha

What is the coverage? U use it at KL? any blindspot ? I heard that the basestation is installed don TM Exchange rooftop only altho CDMA has better coverage than his GSM900 brother.

hmm thinking that if the CDMA used by our Mobifon800 many years back, and I am one of the 018 subscribers, coverage is wide enough which almost equal to 010 Art900 during that time.

The charges is 3sen/min on access and 3sen/min on dialing. I don't know if the rate is same as dial-up charges. If they are same than 144kbps is much better to be choose compare to normal dial-up package. Read more about the plan here

Internet access rate for CDMA is like this...

Dial 1515 - 1 sen for TMnet and 1 1/2 sen for line access
Dial 1525 - 1 sen for TMnet and 3 sen for line access

If you access from west coast areas, it is advised you use 1525 as you'll normally get busy tone if dialling 1515. Else, if you're in east coast (area code 09) you can access 1515 most of the time. The speed for both 1515 and 1525 is about 70-135 kbps.

I tried it. I don't own CDMA handset for myself, it's one of my boss (aka one of my relative)'s one, he's selling Huawei. But Huawei's sound quality is not that good if you really compare it with Nokia, Motorola or Samsung CDMA handsets.

It's better you get urself a better phone rather than just a simple Huawei model, because you might find yourself hard to listen to your friend's voice at a noisy environment, like in clubs. Your friend can listen to you clearly as background music are filtered or minimized. I did call my friends and also to my own voicemail, then retrived it when back at home, using both CDMA and WCDMA.
