The Asus Zenfone 2 runs on Android OS, v5.0 (Lollipop) and is powered by Quad-core 2.3 GHz & Quad-core 1.8 GHz processor with 4GB RAM. It has a 5.5-inch, 1080 x 1920 pixel display. The Asus Zenfone 2 also comes with a 13.0-megapixel camera that is able to record videos at 1080p. It comes with 16/32/64GB of built-in storage, and is able to support microSD cards of up to 64GB.

The Zenfone 2’s 5.5-inch IPS display with 1920 x 1080 resolutions results in a ppi count of 403. On its own, the display is bright and colorful. Texts appear crisp and the colors come out vivid. If you wish to manually adjust the display to your liking, you can. With the ASUS Splendid app, you can adjust things like the color temperature, hue and saturation. On top of that, there are also various display modes such as reading mode, bluelight filter mode and vivid mode to suit different situational needs.

While the ZenUI runs pretty smoothly, the phone itself comes with perhaps too much bloatware to our liking. There are tons of preloaded apps that some users may find overwhelming. No doubt some are useful but the average user will simply ignore them. We (and many of you we presume) would prefer less of these preloaded apps in return for a lighter system.

Speaking of the ZenUI, it has got some pretty nifty tricks up its sleeve through its ZenMotion which includes the aforementioned “tap tap” gesture and quick launch touch gesture (in which you can quickly launch apps from the lockscreen by scribbling an alphabet on the display), Zenfone Theme for those who loves themes and customization, SnapView for the privacy-conscious, One Hand Mode for easier operation with a single hand, ZenLink for sharing files made easy and last but not least Kids Mode.

The Zenfone 2’s battery is nothing to shout about. The 3,000mAh juice pack will most probably not going to last for more than a day if you do a lot of stuffs on it. However, it does have quick-charging technology dubbed as BoostMaster that claims to charge up to 60% of battery in just a little more than half an hour.
