The Thrive will also come with Swype and Toshiba-branded file manager. However, we are unsure if the device will comes with a custom UI as Google has discourage manufacturers from fragmenting its OS further.
Toshiba has noted that the Thrive is targeted at consumers who use tablets at home.
The WiFi only tablet weighs a whopping 700 grams and comes with a dual-core Nvidia Tegra 2 CPU alongside with 1 GB of RAM. There are two cameras – a 5-megapixel on the back and the 2-megapixel front facing one.
Furthermore, the tablet is armed with USB 2.0, mini USB, one SD slot and HDMI. There's also a removable battery that should go up to 7 hours of HD video playback.
The tablet will go on sale in the US on July 10th, and Japanese electronics maker has priced the entry level model at $429 which is cheaper that the basic $499 Apple iPad 2.
