The SG75 is the latest model in Siemens Communications’ successful Slider series. This UMTS mobile offers myriad multimedia functions. Its extensive configuration includes an MP3 player, a high-resolution 2-inch display with more than 262,000 colours, a 1.3-megapixel camera, a CIF camera for video calls, manifold organizer functions, as well as a 70-megabyte memory which can be extended using an RS multimedia card. In addition, this precision-engineered mobile has a special treat in store for photography fans, for the SG75 also permits Bluetooth printing.
Whether for regular use at work or in leisure time – all situations can be mastered using this communication professional. Small, compact, packed with the latest technology – the elegant SG75 mobile phone is one of the first UMTS mobile phones with a semiautomatic slider (ProSlide) and thus follows in Siemens’ line of successful slider models. While closed, this classical, rectangular device is less than 10 centimetres long but still permits access to the most important functions.
Not only does the front of the phone boast the two-inch display that makes all multimedia applications glow with its 176 x 220 pixel resolution and its 262,144 colours. It also showcases five-way navigation as well as side buttons permitting volume control and direct start-up of video telephony and media player. Meantime, moving the slider upwards reveals the SG75’s flat keypad – enabling MMS and emails to be typed in seconds. Thanks to UMTS, other functions – video or audio streaming, surfing the Internet (XHTML browser) or making video calls – can be operated with equal speed. Furthermore, the mobile can even ensure speedy data transfer on a laptop by functioning as a modem.
Whether sending a self-portrait or a picture of surroundings to a business partner, both built-in cameras support every form of video telephony. While the CIF camera at the front facilitates self-portraits, high-resolution shots can be taken with the 1.3-megapixel camera on the back of the device. Anyone with access to a Bluetooth-capable printer can put the pictures on paper immediately – the Bluetooth printing function makes it possible. Besides, the SG75 supports Bluetooth Microsoft Remote Control, which lets applications on the computer be controlled conveniently and without any cables – whether they are Powerpoint presentations or the PC’s media player.
Further features of the SG75’s extensive equipment include a sterling audio player, which along with MP3 files can also replay several other formats such as AAC, MIDI, WAV or Real Audio 8 with full sound and volume. Moreover, Siemens has lavishly included a 70-megabyte memory into this all-round device that can be extended any time if required by adding a multimedia card (reduced size). After all, the most beautiful songs, photos or videos are worthless if there is not sufficient memory to hold them.
Naturally, all data can be transmitted effortlessly to a computer. Using the appropriate software that is supplied as standard, PIM entries from the mobile phone’s extensive organizer, such as appointments and contacts, can also be synchronized simply in a matter of seconds with a PC. In everyday work life, the “Today Screen” is also particularly useful. One glance at the mobile’s display reveals whether current appointments are pending, new messages have arrived or calls have been received in absentia.
A wide range of accessories rounds off the tri-band mobile’s equipment. For example, the new HHB-700 Bluetooth headset ensures convenience without cables. It stands out because of its light weight, high portability and superior speech quality as much as does the superior HKW-710 handsfree Bluetooth car kit with optimized display.
The SG75 will be priced in the mid-range segment and will be available from November 2005 in the colour “Titanium.”
