Meizu has announced the quad-core upgrade of its flagship Android smartphone called the MX Quad-Core.

The upgraded chip is a Samsung Exynos quad-core chip without specifics on its clock speeds. Meizu also touted that the processor will save up to 20 percent of CPU power consumption compared to the dual-cored MX. Its battery pack got upgraded from 1600mAh to 1700mAh too.

On top the Android 4.0, there is Meizu customised Flyme OS. Most of the other specs are similar to its dual-core brother, and will sport a 4-inch 960 x 640 display and 8-megapixel camera with an f/2.2 aperture. There are two internal memory variants – the 16GB and 32GB with no expandable memory.

Meizu will only be charging the quad-core 32GB MX similar to its 16GB MX, priced at HK $3099 (S$ 499), and a 64GB version priced at HK $4099 (S$ 661). Meizu also announced that the original dual-core MX will be reduced to HK $2599 (S$ 419). The MX quad-core is set to be available in June in Hong Kong and China, also you’ll have all those colours to choose from.
